Tourist Places In Wayanad


Wayanad is the place of natural beauty, packed with the majority of the forest area. Wayanad is a little area in the "God's on Country" Kerala, and it shares a boundary with both neighboring states of Karnataka and Tamilnadu. The renowned name Wayanad literally translates to 'Vayal nad' indicates paddy fields, you can notice a lot of paddy fields in Wayanad even though the globalization having its own roots in the district. Wayanad is recognized for its gifted landscape and weather, this is one of the areas in which is having a lot of rains during the monsoon season.   • Kuruva Island
    • This is one of the heavily visited tourist places in Wayanad. Kuruva Island is combination of a number of small islands in the Kabini river.
    • Entry fee: 80Rs
  • Chembra Peak
    • This is the highest peak in Wayanad district. You have to do 2KM trekking to reach the top of the peak. On top of the peak, you can visit a water body in the shape of the heart.
    • Entry fee: 750 for group
  • Banasura Sagar Dam
    • Banasura Sagar dam is a huge dam constructed with mud.
  • Eddakal Caves
    • Edakkal cave is residing in the ambukuthi hill. This is a heritage place. You can see a lot of stone age carving in edakkal cave
  • Soochipara Falls
    • One of the prominent waterfalls in Wayanad.
  • Kurumbalakotta Hill
    • This place is relatively new for exploration. Sunrise and Sunset view is marvellous from this hill
  • Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary
    • Wayanad wildlife sanctuary.
    • You have to get a pass for visiting, limited number of vehicles are allowed in a day

  • Neelimala Viewpoint
    • Neelimala is a hill area.

  • Chain Tree
    • A tree with a chain. It is believed that a tribe man names Karinthandan helped English people to build the road from Calicut to Wayanad. But after building the road,Karinthandan got killed and he becomes a ghost. The spirit of Karinthandan tried to make problems in this are, so after doing some pooja the spirit of Karinthandan is locked in this tree with the chain.
